I did a thing!
I finished the Podfic I was working on. It was Astolat's Smallville Fic Ulterior Motives. I love that story, I love all her Smallvile Fics (hint) and I have always wanted someone to podfic it, but no one ever did. As with most people, I don't really like the sound of my own voice but I really did just decide to suck it up.
So Astolat, who is wonderful and deserves all the cookies, has a blanket transformative permission for all her fandom stuff, with only the provision that she'd like to be informed (of course) and for it to be added to Archive of Our Own so that the works can be associated. So Now I have an AO3 account. But there is nothing on it right now, I spent the last 48 hours or so trying to import the podfic there with no success. *Headdesk* I will get it up eventually, I'll just have to keep trying.
In the meantime I have it on Mediafire (since i couldn't get it on my dinky angelfire website *double headdesk*)So Here is where it can be found:
ACTUALLY, the links I posted were broken do to reasons. They are fixed now. But I put the links in the next post. Rest of this post is still here.
This was recorded using the Voice Memos App on my iPhone 4S. Most were too big to email directly from my phone so the phone was synced to iTunes, and the files located in the iTunes folder. Then using the RealPlayer Converter, I changed to MP3 format. THEN edited in the Audacity program (which I downloaded for free off the internet some time ago.) Finally I used Media MP3 Joiner (which I also found on the internet sometime ago) to combine all the parts into one file. This particular Audiobook was converted from the final MP3 file into AAC format using Real Converter and then the file type name changed from m4a to m4b by hand. Normally I convert to AAC in iTunes but I didn't know if that would cause permission issues with other users, iTunes is bitchy like that.
I started recording on 8/22/13 any time I had a reasonable expectation of quiet, meaning the husband and baby were either asleep or not home or some combination or either. As a result I can hear some differences in my speaking volume of when someone was in the apartment and when I was alone. I'm not sure if it's notice by anyone else though. Anyway, I finished the initial recording on 9/28... and then I had to go back and rerecord the first 7 or so sections because by the end I had settled into character voices that were not really present when I started. but there you have it.
I think it turned out OK. I can here every little mistake and they all make me twitch but I'm pretty sure I'm just being overly critical.
Going back to work on Don't Lie, see if I can get the next part by Halloween. (unlikely)
