Chain E-mail.

Bah.

I never did like chain letters; I don't appreciate when they show up on my car or on a desk at school so I really don't appreciate them in my text messages or emails. But like anyone else who has friends who like to send email, I get them all the time.

Last one got was about the Butt Spider the deadly Telamonia Dimidiata that hitched a ride from South America on an airplane only to hide under toilet seats in Olive Gardens and bite people on the ass. It is deadly I tell you. Check under the toilet seats of Olive Gardens if you want to live. Tell your friends!

The one before that was of little girl named... oh I forgot her name (don't worry, the email forgot her name too.) She was the victim of a nearly fatal fire in some Unnamed Walmart. Poor thing. She was all alone and her arms and legs were burnt so severely they had to be amputated. But she was found clutching her Mothers purse so they found her family with the perfectly legible plastic drivers license.... Anyway, Yahoo was tracking the email and sending a dollar towards her hospital bill for every forward... so you know, pass the story along.

Anyway...

My point being...

Does anyone actually read these things before they send them to everyone they know... and a few people they don't?

So look, if it seems too sensational to be true, it probably is. Do us all a favor and check it out.

They have Websites for this stuff. I kid you not:

Snopes.com - MY Favorite!

Also,

Urbanlegends.about.com
Truthorfiction.com

Seriously, research it before you scare the pants off an arachnophobe or make somebody's mother cry.

Only You Can Prevent Chain Letters.

On the other hand, jokes are greatly appreciated. If you want to send those emails with the preface of: "Look what stupid ass shit somebody sent me," by all means, do so; just link the bullshit detectors too. Oh, and delete the forward address: Protect the innocent and naive.
